Astoria Column -	this tower is 125 feet high with 164 sprial steps to the top for the most fantastic view of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. It can be seen from the Franklin Street bed and breakfast.
Flavel House Museum -	this elegant Victorian home was built by Captain George Flavel, and is listed in the National Regster of Historic Places. It is a short walk from the Franklin B&B.
Maritime Museum -	to learn about this region's maritime history this is the place. This museum is full of artifacts, models, and displays. Best of all it is a short walk from the Franklin.
Aquatic Center -	this center has four pools, a spa, a fitness room and is open year-round. One of the pools features 105 foot open slide.
Ft. Clatsop Memorial -	this replica has a living history program and features demonstrations daily. Ft. Clatsop was the winter quarters for the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Fort Stevens Park -	the fort guarded the mouth of the Columbia River from the Civil War until World War II. The park features a state run campground, museum, and old gun batteries to explore.

 
 
 
 

Activities and Events

 

Crab & Seafood Festival -	is held every year during the last weekend in April. It features seafood of all varieties and samples of many Oregon wines. It features retail and craft booths plus continuous entertainment and a carnival.
Scandinavian Festival -	is held in June during the summer solstice. Festivities include Nordic dishes, costumes, crafts, music and folk dancing. You don't have to be scandinavian to love this.
Fourth of July -	is a great time on the Columbia River. Four area towns feature firework displays over the river and ocean. There are many activities and the weather is usually great in July.
Astoria Regatta -	has been a tradition since 1894. It takes place each year during the second weekend of August. Some of the highlights include the grand parade, Yacht Club races, salmon barbecue, and classic car show.
